Message from the Director

On behalf of Phelps Stokes Ralph Bunche Societies, I would like to welcome you to the national website for the Ralph Bunche Societies – a network of campus-based organizations committed to building a pipeline for global, values-based leadership.

This specially-designed website is intended to serve as a resource for understanding the history, general structure, and human impact of the Ralph Bunche Societies. As important, this website is designed to connect emerging global leaders at colleges and universities around the world. Phelps Stokes partners with interested colleges and universities to establish Ralph Bunche Societies.

These extracurricular, undergraduate, student-led associations are dedicated to developing globally aware citizens from all fields of study. Focused on quality and not quantity, the Societies encourage students to embrace the life work, legacy, and values of Dr. Bunche by emphasizing scholarly excellence, language proficiency, cultural awareness, community service and activism, and professional and leadership development.

The goals of the Ralph Bunche Societies are to tackle issues as relevant today as in Bunche’s time:

1) address the need for greater minority involvement in the international arena;
2) prepare minority students to become full and active participants in the global community; and
3) expand academic and career opportunities for students.

Working together, we look forward to broadening horizons and expanding opportunities for college students!
